About ALSA LC UJ

ALSA Local Chapter Universitas Jember or known as ALSA LC UJ is a part of ALSA National Chapter Indonesia. ALSA LC UJ is one of the 15 Local Chapters of ALSA Indonesia located at the Faculty of Law, Universitas Jember. ALSA LC UJ’s goals are to help its members establish traits that are mirrored in ALSA’s pillars, which are internationally minded, socially responsible, academically committed, and legally skilled.

HISTORY OF ALSA LC UJ

ALSA Local Chapter Universitas Jember or abbreviated as ALSA LC UJ, began in 1994 when Faruk Ansori, as Chair of the Senate Faculty of Law at the University of Jember and Chair of the Student Representative Body, Fendi Setiawan, received an invitation from ALSA National Chapter Indonesia to attend the National Conference that held at University of Brawijaya, Malang. From the results of the meeting, Faruk and Fendi believed that the Faculty of Law, University of Jember was deemed necessary to become part of the ALSA National Chapter Indonesia because they both thought that the Faculty of Law, University of Jember did not yet have student organizations (activities) as described in the National Conference, which following the Vision and Objective of ALSA National Chapter Indonesia.
As time went on, ALSA LC UJ was able to develop and initiate various kinds of academic improvement activities and expand the scope of relations with the community and other communities. Besides serving the community, ALSA LC UJ also conducts training and research to increase the capacity of its members. Until now, all ALSA activities have been progressive and continue to grow constantly. That at that time, ALSA LC UJ had a total of 420 active members.
Then in 1999, the Faculty of Law, University of Jember, was invited back to the National Conference held at Hasanuddin University, Makassar as an Observer. For 1 year, the Faculty of Law, University of Jember had Observer status until finally, after going through all the stages and requirements to become a Local Chapter at the ALSA National Chapter Indonesia, the Faculty of Law, University of Jember officially joined the ALSA National Chapter Indonesia as Local Chapter on 23rd March 2000 at the National Conference held at Padjadjaran University, Bandung, represented by the Director of ALSA Local Chapter Universitas Jember, Ahmad Maliki and Vice Director of ALSA Local Chapter Universitas Jember, Heri Wahyudiono.
